CNN — A Massachusetts judge on Wednesday granted the prosecution's motion to delay a probable cause hearing in the case of Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots player who is charged with premeditated murder in the June slaying of Odin Lloyd.
The hearing is now set for August 22 at 2:00 p.m., and Hernandez remains held.
Former New England Patriots tight end, Aaron Hernandez was arrested at his Massachusetts home by police Wednesday, June 26.
The Patriots announced their decision to release Hernandez from the team via their official Twitter account shortly after his arrest.
Hernandez was booked at the police station in North Attleborough and then transported to court for arraignment.
Police have been investigating the murder of 27-year old semi-pro football player, Lloyd, an acquaintance of Hernandez. Lloyd also dated the aunt of Hernandez's daughter.
Lloyd was found dead on June 17 less than a mile from Hernandez's home.
