Kilgore, TX (Longview News-Journal) — Kilgore City Council members agreed Tuesday night to seek $350,000 for a citywide network of walking trails.
The request to the Kilgore Economic Development Corp. is a formality, and Mayor Ronnie Spradlin said the city anticipates having the money within 60 days. That’s in time for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1 and for which the council is penning a budget during work sessions after regular meetings.
“It’s a quality of life issue,” Spradlin said. “It will connect all our parks together in a safe trail you could take a baby stroller down. We look for it to be used by skateboarders, walkers, joggers, people on on-road or off-road bicycles.”
