HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23 — An ordinary traffic stop leads to police seizing up to $1 million in heroin.
On Wednesday, July 24th at approximately 10 p.m. a police supervisor conducted a traffic stop at the 2600 block of South Expressway 77 for failure to use a turning signal.
The officer asked, the driver identified as Jorge Valenzuela Saldana, 44, from Matamoros, Mexico, for consent to search the vehicle and found several laptop bags and filled with over 19 pounds of alleged heroin and estimated at $1 million dollars.
Saldana was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and a bond set at $750,000.
