Tyler, Texas (KETK) — A Chapel Hill single mother of five, 37-year old Jackie Adams is battling breast cancer. Adams was diagnosed when she was 32 years old while pregnant with twins.
Adams' family and friends organized a baseball tournament and raffle to help raise money for Adams and her kids.
"Faith...God...gives me all the strength that I need," says Jackie Adams, of Chapel Hill.
More than a 100 of people gathered on Saturday at Lindsey Park in Tyler.
Several people joined a baseball team, each team paying $200. Some East Texans KETK spoke to say, the mom of five needs as much support she can get, and even thought she's battling cancer, she's always positive helping helping others.
"We all decided as team that if win we are going to give her the winning money back," says Robert Tamblin, Supporter.
Adams tells KETK, her kids are her strength.
"To look at my kids everyday and see them and know that I've got to be there for them, that's all it takes."
KETK got the chance to speak with East Texans about putting on their cleats and playing ball for a special mom.
Dawn Washburn, Jackie's mom, tells KETK she is so thankful for the community's support.
"I'm so thankful that these people are playing for her, " says Washburn.
"It's all around good feeling, I'm glad Jackie is out here to see this." says Matt Buchanan, Jackie's friend.
