Tyler, Texas — On May 29 Robert Jordan made a huge announcement to the 2013 West Rusk Highschool graduating class. Jordan said his friend, film-maker Nicolas Sturghill would be giving each senior a scholarship to East Texas Baptist University.
Months have passed still no money has come in, and now that the July 31 deadline for the first tuition payment is coming closer, it seems these students' chances of attending college this fall are out of reach.
On Friday KETK did some digging, and according to Sturghill's business manager, Jennifer Pool, this announcement was not supposed to take place yet. Pool says Sturghill wasn't planning on giving out these scholarships until 2014, when his new film was to be released.
KETK headed to New London to see what nearby school residents had to say about this, and while many denied to be on camera, the responses ranged from "saddened" to "disgusted".
