Waco, Texas (KWKT) — A Central Texas woman remains in jail after her child was found wandering near a Waco roadway Monday. According to judicial records, Stefanie Renee Stocks, 27, of Bellmead, was charged with child endangerment and abandonment, theft, assault and three counts of possession.
The woman's 3-year-old child was found  by himself near the roadway at 7th and Lasalle. The boy was described as being dirty, very hungry and thirsty. Responding officers provided the child with food and drink from a nearby restaurant. Authorities also changed his clothes on scene, which were soiled.
Victim Services took the child to a local hospital where he was treated for various needs. Some of those include cuts and scratches, what appear to be burn marks from cigarettes and a severe case of diaper rash.
According to police reports, Stocks was found by police passed out from drug use at a convenience store on the 300 block of LaSalle. She was arrested and booked into the McLennan County Jail.
A current jail roster shows the suspect is still in jail on bonds totaling $30,000.
Child Protective Services has taken custody of the child.
