(KETK) - Tyler Tx — The drought of 2011 brought many problems to the Tyler area and it continues to affect things two years later.
One of the worst parts of the drought was definitely the amount of trees it killed.
And unfortunately we're still seeing more trees die in smith county and it is costing a lot of money to clean up.
Comparing the year between 2010 and 2011 to the 2012, 2013 year, the county has had over 300 more work orders to remove dead trees.
From about 500 work orders to more than 800, and it is not cheap.
They had to spend practically double the amount this past year than years previous.
This past year they spent over 850 thousand dollars.
