Longview — In the year 2040, Longview roads will be stretched to capacity if changes aren’t made, transportation planners said Wednesday.
A model for future Longview traffic, approved by the Longview Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Board, paints a picture of traffic volume in 2020 and in 2040.
“This is a planning tool — it’s not designed to spit out the answer. … It is designed to help size and time infrastructure improvements,” Andy Mullins, research scientist with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, told the planning board. “It can also evaluate the impact of demographic growth … and evaluate the changes to the roadway system.”
