Tyler, Texas (KETK) — According to Dallas media reports, Texas Rangers outfielder, Nelson Cruz, has decide to accept his 50-game suspension for his involvement in a Biogenesis case.
The reports are expected to be formally announced via press release around 2:00 p.m.The suspension list is likely to include 12 more major league players including former Ranger and current New York Yankee, Alex Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is expected to appeal the suspension.
Depending on if the Rangers make the playoffs and how deep the team goes, it is unknown if Cruz will play for the Rangers anymore this season.
According to the Texas Rangers ballclub, Cruz released a statement on Monday saying the reasoning behind his usage of Performance Enhancing Drugs is because he was seriously ill. He lost 40 pounds and was unsure if he'd even be able to play.
The Texas Rangers are in the race to make their fourth consecutive playoff run, being only two-and-a-half games behind the Oakland Athletics.
