Longview — The congressman from Northeast Texas shared his thoughts with a Longview business group Thursday on immigration reform, the Egyptian crisis and other topics awaiting Congress when it reconvenes in September.
Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler, also declared he will not challenge GOP Sen. John Cornyn of Texas as state tea party leaders have encouraged him to do.
“That went around about three weeks ago,” he told the News-Journal after his speech to the Longview Chamber of Commerce. “It’s really sweet of them to encourage that, but we’re engaged in battle in the House and we are on the brink of making great progress or losing everything. And I don’t want to run away from that fight,” Gohmert said.
