Smith County, TX (KETK) — Tyler HAZMAT crews have cleaned up the scene of a chemical spill at Rockwater Energy.
Crews lefy the incident around 9:37 a.m., at the company located in the 12,000 block of Highway 155 North in Smith County.
Authorities at the Tyler Fire Marshal's office tell KETK that the call came in around 6:30 a.m.
The chemical is believed to be hydrochloric acid, and is leaking from a 55-gallon barrel.
It is not clear what caused the leak, but officials say that HAZMAT crews have the situation under control and are working to clean up the area. The area around the leak has been evacuated as a precaution, but there are no injuries reported.
