(KETK) - Tyler Tx — Meet Charlie and Carol Springman.
They are just two of the people that visited the mall today hoping to take advantage of the tax-free weekend. Shopping is something they always do together.
"I tell people I'm driving Miss Daisy," said Charlie Springman. "And this is my Miss Daisy."
And they are not the only ones taking advantage of the savings.
"I'm not from here originally so the tax free thing blew me away," said Nick Fotheringham. "I'm out here trying to spend some money and save some at the same time."
We asked kids going back to school what they thought about tax-free weekend.
"It's really cramped," said Dawson Jones.
"You get to buy stuff," said Lexi Davis, a student from Longview.
And the tax-free weekend is not just good for the shoppers.
Crystal McDaniels, Manager of Buckle, says this is one of their biggest weekends of the year.
"It's super exciting," McDaniels said. "Tons of people in Texas come out for the savings. It's nice for the people shopping for their kids that they get the savings too."
Director of Marketing and Business Development, Candace Foster, said anyone is welcome to shop and no store in the mall is excluded.
But there is a price cap per item.
"Any item that is over 100 dollars is not tax free," Foster said. "So as long as it's under a hundred dollars and on the tax-free list all the back to school items are tax free this weekend."
