Longview, Texas (KETK) — The Texas Rangers are now on scene investigating the officer involved shooting.
This is the third shooting involving a Longview Police Officer this year with all three happening since May. The first was May 9 during a SWAT standoff and the second came 11 days later on May 20 during a high speed chase along East Marshal Avenue.
The only description police gave of the person shot is a black male. He was taken to a local hospital and his condition is unknown at this time. Longview police are not sure if he lives at the apartment complex or what he was doing there.
The officer will be placed on administrative leave with pay until the investigation is completed.
Longview Police were called to Penwood Apartments in the 500 block of Scenic Drive for an armed subject at 8:54 p.m.
On arrival, police confronted the suspect. The suspect made furtive movements to the police officers and the suspect was shot by one of the officers. The suspect is currently in a local hospital.
