Tyler, Texas — Recently, the city of Tyler's funding application through the Texas Department of Public Transportation was approved for a 1.6 million dollar grant.
The funding with go toward sidewalk repair and construction across the city.
Currently the city is working on sidewalks across North Tyler, through funding from the city's Half Cent Sales Tax.
City of Tyler engineer Carter Delleny explains the factors involved in deciding which areas need work, saying, "The Metropolitan Planning Organization put out a Pedestrian Master Plan back in 2010, so what they looked at was where citizens work, where they play, and where they eat."
The plan is set to take place in March 2015.
