An amendment to the state’s Move Over/Slow Down law will soon give motorists one more thing to think about as they travel Texas roadways.
Beginning Sept. 1, the Move Over/Slow Down law will be expanded to protect Texas Department of Transportation employees, requiring drivers to change lanes or slow down when approaching TxDOT vehicles stopped with their overhead lights flashing.
The law currently requires drivers to yield to police, fire and other emergency vehicles but Senate Bill 510 — signed by Gov. Rick Perry in May — expanded the bill for a second time.
