Bossier City, LA (KETK) — Bossier City and Shreveport Police are working together to catch two suspects wanted for attempted theft of an ATM machine. The third suspect is still on the loose.
Two of three suspects who tried to steal an ATM machine from a Bossier City bank drive-thru are now in custody after an overnight vehicle pursuit involving law enforcement on both sides of the Red River.
Bossier City Police were called Thursday night to the 4200 block of Benton Road for an attempted ATM theft.
Bank security cameras at Ouachita Independent Bank caught the incident on video.
The video shows the suspects arriving in a white pickup truck with Texas tags attempting to take the ATM by putting a chain around it, then pulling it off its foundation with the truck dragging it several feet on the ground.
The suspects then drove off without taking the machine or any money from it.
A few hours later, a Bossier City patrol officer found the truck matching the description of the suspect vehicle on Barksdale Boulevard and attempted to conduct a traffic stop as it turned onto Westgate Drive.
The truck then got on a the A.R.T. Parkway going northbound with the driver.
Bossier City Police pursued the truck onto Interstate 20 into Shreveport and were soon joined by Shreveport Police who took the lead in the pursuit.
At one point the truck exited I-20 and later got back on the interstate and headed toward Bossier City.
The truck then drove to Jewella Avenue, that's where police took two of the three suspects into custody.
Authorities arrested Gerri Davis, 24, of White Oak, Texas, and Carl Gearhart III, 29, of Tyler, Texas. Both were booked into Shreveport City Jail and are waiting to be taken to Bossier City where they face charges of attempted felony theft and felony criminal property damage.
Officials are still looking for the third suspect who fled the scene on foot and remains on the loose.
Detectives are still working to get a positive identity on him.
