Tyler, Texas (KETK) — The John Tyler High School band will perform their first Big Blue March-a-Thon on Saturday, August 24, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The band will be sharing their award-winning music with the community. The band will also march through the streets, stopping at certain homes to perform lawn concerts.
This event will kick-off fundraising efforts to finance the band's trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, California to perform.
There are four different parade routes:
The first leg will be in the Pine Brook addition behind John Tyler High School.
The second will travel down Cecil, Northridge, and 29th streets ending at Dogan Middle School.
The third leg will travel through Normandy Heights addition.
And the fourth leg will go through the Briarwood Estates.
This march-a-thon will culminate with a performance at Stewart Middle School.
Donations to the Big Blue Band can be brought to one of the parade routes, mailed to 1120 NNW Loop 323 Tyler, Texas 75702, delivered in person to the John Tyler Band Hall, or arrangements can be made for a band director to pick them up.
Please make checks payable to the JT Band Parent Organization.
Donations of $75 will receive a lawn performance and $50 donations will receive a one-song performance.
