Gilmer — Jeff Traylor has been coaching the Gilmer Buckeyes since the year 2000.
He's won 148 games and he's lost just 24.
He's won two state championships and he almost won two more.
Traylor talked with KETK Sports Director Danny Elzner about Gilmer's winning tradition.
"Who knows why it happens but the mind is a very powerful thing in the game of football," Traylor said. "The program is ingrained in these kids to find a way to win."
"Who knows how much that stuff matters bit I know it matters," Traylor added. "Every year we're here. Our kids continue to amaze us at finding some way to win another ballgame. That's a lot of credit to the kids in 2000, 2001 and 2002 that started all of this."
The Buckeyes will start the 100th year of Gilmer football Thursday, August 29 against Atlanta in renovated Buckeye Stadium.
