UPDATE (AUGUST 22, 7:34 AM): Fire investigators believe the fire started near a container being used as an ashtray on an upstairs balcony.
The initial call was received at 6:49 p.m when a neighbor smelled smoke and saw flames coming from an upstairs balcony.
They tell KETK the fire smoldered prior to actual smoke and flames being noticed by the neighbor.
Five engines and one Ladder Company, along with a district chief and an investigator, responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported smoke and flames coming from the second story balcony.
The fire had already spread to the adjacent balcony and in to the attic area of the building.
Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire before it spread any further and ensured that all occupants were safely outside of the building.
Four apartment units were damaged.
The Displaced occupants were relocated to other vacant units by the apartment management.
No injuries were reported.
UPDATE (7:41 p.m.): Tyler Fire has confirmed with KETK that they believe the fire began in the attic and roof.
Most of the damage was smoke damage to the roof and attic and it affected two upper level apartments.
There were no injuries to report.
The cause of the fire is still not known at this time but they will continue to investigate the incident.
UPDATE: KETK crews on scene say the fire was located on the top floor.
As of right now it looks like fire crews have it contained.
As of right now we do not what the cause of the fire was but we will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
ORIGINAL: Fire officials confirm with KETK that an apartment is on fire in the 1900 block of Shiloh Road in Tyler.
That's the Wood Trail Apartment complex.
KETK has a crew en route to the scene and will bring you more information when it becomes available.
