Longview, Texas (KETK) —
A current contestant from Spike TV's hit original reality-competition series "Ink Master," is coming to East Texas.
Tattoo artist, Kyle Dunbar, will be in Longview, August 23-25, guest tattooing at the Ink Life Tour Tattoo and Music Festival .
Dunbar is still in the running for the $100,000 cash prize and bragging rights of being the next ‘Ink Master.’
The show, which airs on Tuesday’s at 10PM ET/PT, is at the midseason mark and Dunbar has really made a name for himself with his continued competition success including having won the “Flash Challenge” on this week’s episode and is hoping to earn a spot in the season's live finale in early October.
In case you are not familiar with “Ink Master,” the series is hosted by musician and tattoo aficionado Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and judged by renowned tattoo artists Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo).
Each week “Ink Master” contestants compete in various tattoo challenges that are designed to test the artists’ technical skills and on-the-spot creativity on actual “Human Canvases.” At the end of each episode, one artist is named the winner and another is sent home, not having what it takes to be an ‘Ink Master.’ The masterpieces these artists create will last forever, but so will their mistakes.
Dunbar is a Michigan native and is a self-taught tattoo artist who hasn’t built his reputation on being the nice guy. He says that he worked at almost every tattoo shop in Genesee County, Michigan, his hometown, only to have been fired from every one of them because of his abrasive attitude. Kyle prefers to create his own world of “badass art” where he can control gravity and twist reality to his own liking. He has more than 20 years of experience and he is the owner and lead artist at Almighty Tattoo in Flint.
