Longview, TX (Longview News-Journal) — East Texans who dine out Tuesday at more than a dozen local restaurants will be doing more than just feeding their appetite — they’ll be supporting a local ministry.
Longview Community Ministries is hosting its annual fundraiser, Too Hot To Cook, on Tuesday, Aug. 27. People who dine out at a participating restaurant that night will be helping to support the ministry’s Food Box, which provides grocery staples to families and individuals in the community who are having problems meeting their basic needs, said Lisa Simmons, program manager.
“We have 20 restaurants participating this year, which is the most ever,” Simmons said. “There are a wide variety of eating establishments, so whether people are seeking fast food or fine dining, they can find it.”
