When quarterback Caleb Chumley went down with a toe injury in early August, Pine Tree already knew the man for the job.
Derek Fitzhenry and his staff will turn to senior Dalvin Manns to be the Pirates’ signal caller as they begin the season against Van at 7:30 tonight to open the new Pirate Stadium.
“Right now, Dalvin is the man,” Fitzhenry said. “He makes good reads. He can throw and run well.”
Fitzhenry said Chumley’s toe is healing well, but there is no timetable set for his return. The coach said Manns was already preparing to take snaps at quarterback before the injury to Chumley.
