HIALEAH, FL - Authorities say a former South Florida police officer, the son of a former police chief, is free on bond after allegedly robbing a bank.
Hialeah police report that 36-year-old Rolando A. Bolanos Jr. was charged Wednesday morning with strong-armed bank robbery.
Police say security cameras caught the former officer accepting a stack of cash from a BankAtlantic teller Monday morning.
Police say he handed the bank teller a note demanding money but did not show a weapon.
Police say the black Mercedes Benz driven away from the robbery belonged to Bolanos.
Bolanos' attorney says his client maintains his innocence.
Bolanos was employed as a Hialeah police officer for the city of Hialeah from 1997 through 2003.
He is the son of retired Hialeah police chief Rolando D. Bolanos Sr.
He posted $7,500 bond late Wednesday.
