Tyler, (KETK) — The Labor Day weekend brings many East Texans to the lake, so you would think.
It looks like this triple digit heat has many enjoying the holiday indoors.
Chance Meets and Sarah Dotson of Whitehouse come out to Lake Tyler often.
They tell KETK, they're enjoying the holiday weekend, but there's one problem.
"The lake levels are are not good at all, we know the reason why, of course the city has to pull water out of the lake, plus not much rain, plus a leak it the dam," says Chance Meets of Whitehouse.
As of September 1, Lake Tyler is close to 5 feet below average, -4.70 to be exact, which it takes a little longer to get out of the water.
Meets and Dotson tells, they're still enjoying themselves.
"We wouldn't be anywhere else, so it's kind of sad that's it's over, but it's the last weekend so we are going to enjoy and have good time," Sarah Dotson of Whitehouse.
Dotson says, it's nice to be on the water to cool down.
"It's way too hot, it's ok we are out here."
Kenneth Stephenson from Longview came out to lake Tyler to relax with his family this holiday.
"It's happen every year, it get's pretty low to where you can't get in," says Stephenson.
Even with triple digit heat and low lake levels, he's happy to be out spending time with this family.
