Tyler — He led the Crusaders to the state championship eight years ago.
Josiah Mooney was a junior quarterback on the Bishop Gorman state title team in 1995.
Mooney talked to the current Crusaders before their season opener over the weekend.
He also talked with KETK Sports Director Danny Elzner about winning despite adversity.
"Several of our players were in a bad car accident," Mooney said. "A couple of them were paralyzed and another was in the hospital. Those were a lot of our starters."
"We as a team had to come together and figure out what we were going to do, how we were going the manage the rest of our season," Mooney continued. "We began holding each other accountable. Young leaders stepped up and were able to lead the team. I was very grateful to be part of that and of this tradition at Gorman football."
