Timpson — Two sharp earth tremors on Monday rattled a rural East Texas area, causing little damage but startling residents.
The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the 4.1 magnitude earthquake at 4:52 p.m., centered about 2 miles west-northwest of Timpson. Police received reports of dishes and pictures falling from walls but no significant damage, said Timpson officer Adam Renfro.
Roughly two hours later, a second, 4.3 magnitude quake struck nearby, according to the USGS website.
