Tyler, Texas — Even though many health officials urge people of all ages to get flu vaccines there are some who strongly disagree.
Physicians say they constantly have patients come in saying they're afraid these vaccines will give them the flu.
Immunization director of Net Health in Tyler, Sylvia Warren says, "They say they get the flu when they get the flu shot and that's absolutely not true."
Doctors are quick to add that sometimes patients will get the side effects from the shot confused with symptoms.
Dr. Benjamin Constante with Momentum Urgent Care in Tyler says, "The flu shot itself will make you feel a little run down or maybe even a low grade fever just from having the immunization. But those who get outright ill really don't believe that the flu shot causes that illness because the flu shot is a dead virus."
