Tyler, Texas (KETK) — State Rep. Dan Branch, State Sen. Ken Paxton, and Texas Railroad Commissioner Barry Smitherman will be in Tyler, Saturday, for the first in a series of candidate forums for statewide races. These three candidates are competing for the Republican nomination for Texas Attorney General.
The primary elections will be held March 4, 2014. The seat for Texas Attorney General is an open seat since Greg Abbott is running for the office of governor.
The candidate forum is sponsored by the East Texas Constitutional Alliance. The Alliance is composed of grassroots conservative organizations from across the East Texas region. Grassroots America – We the People is a charter member of the Alliance. The candidate forum is free and open to the public.
It will be held at the UT-Tyler Ornelas Activity Center, 3402 Old Omen Road.
The doors will open at 2:00 p.m., with the event starting promptly at 2:30 p.m., according to press materials.
The event will end at 5:00 p.m., with a straw poll.
