Tyler TX (KETK) — A new shopping center with more than 90 retailers is coming to Tyler.
The developers and Tyler city officials are calling this project a game changer for the city.
"This new development with over 750,000 square ft. of retail is going to change the face of Tyler," said Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass.
A movie theater, bowling alley restaurants and retail stores are on the way.
We're told the new shopping center will bring in millions of dollars and add more than two thousand new jobs.
"It will be very exciting because it is not just the work here it is going to ripple down to the greater community as more people have work here than it will create other jobs within our community," said Bass.
The Village at Cumberland Park is being built on more than 80 acres off of Hwy 69 and Toll 49.
"A good location to start with that with Toll 49 being on the southside, it's going to make easy access for many people coming into Tyler," said Bass.
A Dallas construction company and Tyler leaders started this project in 2011.
The construction company says they're building something special.
"It will be something different, but it will have entertainment. Our desire is to create a place people want to come and stay," said Pres. of Connected Development Services David Wilson.
Wilson said the goal of this shopping complex is to make Tyler a destination for people to shop, eat, spend the night and have a good time.
"So many of our shoppers are going to come from outside the city of Tyler that we give them a place if they've driven 40 or 50 miles to get here, they don't have to shop two or three places and go home."
Tyler city officials and the developers are confident the Village at Cumberland Park will be a huge economic boost for the city of Tyler.
