(KETK) - Tyler Tx — "This fair may be the best one we've ever put together," said John Sykes, President of The Park of East Texas.
Unlike in the past, this year the East Texas State Fair is jam packed with all new attractions. From an eight story high dive to a frontier show full of horses, camels and buffalo.
"We also have the only trained wolf pack," Sykes said.
And the owner of this wolf pack said he traveled over 1000 miles to be at the East Texas State Fair.
"We came all the way from South Carolina," said Michael Sandlofer.
They've been prepping since Monday.
"With preparations in this heat you have to be real careful of the animals," Sandlofer said.
And it is not just the safety of the animals the people at East Texas Fair are looking out for, but the safety of the people coming to enjoy the fun.
"The planning that goes into this takes all year," Sykes said. "And all were thinking is safety, safety, safety, safety, safety."
So if you are worried about letting your kids onto the rides, here is some peace of mind.
"That's our number one goal," Sykes said. "We don't do anything that could risk safety or is not secure."
And the fair has something for everyone. From rides and games for the young ones to entertainment and beer gardens for the adults.
"This has got to be the biggest family event in East Texas," Sykes said.
