Henderson — East Texans interested in viewing mummies, scarabs and other artifacts of the ancient Middle East don’t need to travel to a large city.
The Antiquity Encounter Museum at Texas Baptist Institute and Seminary in Henderson contains artifacts and replicas of items used in everyday life and for ceremonial purposes from the earliest days of human civilization to around the time of Christ.
Most are authentic, said curator Dr. John Melancon. The few that are replicas are clearly marked and are there to help visitors better understand the ancient cultures.
