(KETK) - Tyler Tx — When the people of Chapel Hill saw a proposed bond of 31.2 million dollars while the school is already over 30 million dollars in debt, they had some questions.
"Primarily the concern is the bond issue and finding out what the exact numbers are and what the current debt is," said CHISD parent Tammy Humes.
So Chapel Hill ISD put together two meetings so they could go over the bond and explain where the money would go.
"I hope number one they educate everybody," Humes said.
Saturday was the first of two meetings. Chapel Hill ISD Superintendent, Dr. Donni Cook, gave a PowerPoint presentation on details of the bond money and what it would be used for.
"We feel it's time to add the new gymnasium," said Dr. Cook.
But the parents are concerned with the already high debt.
"Shelve it, take a look at it, take it apart," Humes said. "Decide what is the real priority and work from there."
