Tyler , TX (KETK) — Matthew Greene is usually seen dressed in scrubs at the East Texas Medical Center, but on the weekends he is busy sky diving competitively.
Greene is one of four members of a competitive sky diving team called Khaos Khobalt.
One day driving to work, Greene heard a reporter sky diving live on the radio and instantly became interested in this unique activity.
"And I saw, you know, him having a great time and so I gave them a call at two in the morning, woke everyone up and scheduled my first skydive.." said Greene.
The team creates as many four way formations as they can within a 35 second time frame and falls from an airplane more than two miles above the ground.
Last week the Dallas based team traveled to Chicago to face forty other teams from across the nation.
Khaos Khobalt was named champions of the 2013 U.S. Parachute Association National Skydiving competition
"We've gotten a silver medal before, but this is the first time we ever got gold so this is as good as we can do, so it was a really good feeling to know that we can't do any better than we did today," said Greene.
Even after being named a national champion and sky diving more than two thousand times, Greene says his most memorable skydive was with his wife on her first dive.
Whenever this energetic guy isn't working in the ICU or sky diving, he enjoys running marathons and spending time with his two year old daughter.
