(KETK) - Tyler Tx — John Tyler students were 'pinked-out' Friday for their home game against Corsicana in support of breast cancer.
"We have a lot of ladies on our campus that have breast cancer so this is our way of supporting them," said Ricklan Holmes, Athletic Director.
And as usual, John Tyler brought the energy and excitement.
"Every week I'm excited because it's another week my kids get to go out there and show them what they've been doing, how much they've learned, and how hungry they are to win another district championship," Holmes said.
Friday is their first district game.
"Anytime you get ready to start and head into our second season of our three season event we go through every year it's money time," Holmes said. "I see we can get to be where we need to be, to be very competitive and very dominant and were getting closer and closer to that."
Head band director, Larry Wade Jr. will always have a place for the Lions in his heart. And he says it is nice to be a part of such a close-knit, supportive community.
"I'm an alumni so I'm always going to support the school," said Wade Jr. "But it's good to see the community, the band, everyone coming in for one purpose and that's to make sure the John Tyler football team, band, cheerleaders, drill team succeeds."
