Smith County (KETK) — Smith County firefighters have been monitoring an oil storage facility throughout the night after a reported explosion and fire.
It happened around 10 p.m., just off Sandflat Road.
No one was injured and no evacuations have been ordered.
We're told one pump jack, three storage tanks and several vessels were destroyed.
The person who called in the fire was also the Assistant Fire Chief at Red Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Michael Sammons.
He says he could see 50-foot flames reaching into the sky from at least three or four miles away.
The company that owns the facility is Vess Oil Corp . They sent workers out who closed valves to help prevent any more explosions.
The cause of this incident is still under investigation.
