Tyler, Texas (UT Health Northeast) — UT Health Northeast recently promoted one biomedical research faculty member and one clinical faculty member. In addition, 10 employees have been recognized for their 20 or more years of service to UT Health.
In the area of basic biomedical research, Ramakrishna Vankayalapati, Ph.D., has been promoted to professor of microbiology and immunology. Dr. Vankayalapati, who joined UT Health in 1999, studies the immune system and how it responds to the bacteria that cause tuberculosis with the goal of developing a more effective vaccine against TB.
Michele Bosworth, MD, has been promoted to associate professor of family medicine. Dr. Bosworth, who joined UT Health in 2008, is interested in preventive health, women’s health, and pediatric and adolescent medicine, as well as clinical informatics, which promotes the understanding, integration, and application of information technology in healthcare settings. She is co-chief medical informatics officer at UT Health
Two employees were recognized for their 30 or more years of service. Yolandé D. Caddell, medical laboratory tech supervisor in Pathology, was honored for 35 years with UT Health Northeast. William M. Girard, MD, a pulmonologist in the Ralph and Mary Prince Heart and Lung Clinic, was recognized for 30 years with UT Health.
Seven employees marked 20 or more years of service. They include Claudette N. Clay, director of payroll services, Accounting; Tracy Drake, RN, nurse manager, Heart and Lung Clinic; Irene D. Johnson, client services analyst, East Texas Consortium; Donna G. Martin, director of compliance and information security officer, Compliance; and Annie L. Roten, director of accounting services, Accounting.
In addition, three employees from the Biomedical Research Center were honored for 20 years of service: Malini R. Madiraju, Ph.D., and Murty V. Madiraju, Ph.D., both professors of biochemistry, and Sreerama Shetty, Ph.D., professor of medicine.
