Longview — New classes are giving students at East Texas Charter School a dose of practical skills to go along with their academic education.
The 25-minute daily Skills 4 Life classes focus on subjects such as Internet safety, sewing, cooking, money management, etiquette, guitar playing and using basic tools. Each student spends two weeks in each of the life skills classes, said Principal Terry Lapic.
Teacher Cynthia Gray, who has added a cooking and nutrition class to her regular roster of history instruction, said she’s enjoying teaching practical skills.
