Kilgore — A family that lost a loved one in a house fire this past week remains heartbroken, but thankful for the community’s support.
The family of 10, including five 6- to 9-year-old children, also lost all of its belongings, such as clothes, shoes, blankets, pillows, school supplies and furniture.
“That’s all material things. The only thing I can’t bring back is my son,” said Jackie Sickler-Womack, as she sat just feet away from where she watched her son take his last breath. “It was the worst nightmare I’ve ever seen in my life. Those nightmares are just staying in my head.”
Sickler-Womack’s 31-year-old son Calvin Sickler died Thursday after the family woke up to find their four-bedroom home fully engulfed in flames.
