Cass County, Texas (KETK) — The remains of a human head was found in Cass County as a hunter was scoping out his deer lease Monday afternoon.
Cass County Sheriff, Larry Rowe, tells KETK around 1:00 p.m., Monday afternoon, a hunter from Dallas was walking around his deer lease of Farm to Market Road 2971, in Cass County when he stumbled upon the head of a male and immediately notified authorities.
When officials arrived on scene they discovered clothing nearby and other belongings in the woods nearby.
"We have no missing persons reports in the county, but we have a pretty good idea of whose head it is," said Rowe.
Rowe says the head had been in the woods for about two to two-and-a-half months, but foul play does not seem to be a factor.
The remains have been sent to Dallas for an autopsy report and KETK will update information as it becomes available.
