Kilgore — More than 100 teams of oilfield workers from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas will have their homemade chili tasted and judged next week during the 21st annual East Texas Oilmen’s Chili Cook-off in downtown Kilgore.
“The cook-off is really neat,” event chairwoman Merlyn Holmes said. “It has a lot of history. We sold over 9,000 armbands last year. It’s really neat to see all the oil companies come together and have fun and benefit the non-profit organizations.”
Since 2010, the cook-off has benefited the East Texas Treatment Center, which offers services such as physical and language therapy. Gates will open at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 7 and the competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at The World’s Richest Acre.
