Lufkin, TX (KETK) —
A Lufkin stabbing suspect was arrested in Corrigan.
Police were looking for 51-year-old Richard Wayne Taylor who is a suspect in the stabbing of a woman that happened at the Ministry in Action apartment complex on the 900 block of Kurth Dr. in Lufkin just after 1:00 p.m., Thursday afternoon.
Lufkin Police Detective J.B. Smith tells KETK that the victim is a woman named Shirley Taylor, who is believed to be the wife of the suspect. However, a female relative told police that the suspected stabber was not living in the residence at the time.
The woman claims the suspect, Taylor, was at the house visiting them just before the stabbing occurred. She stepped outside for a moment, and says that when she returned to the house, she heard a disturbance coming from a back bedroom.
Shirley Taylor then reportedly cried out for help, and the relative left the house again to call for law enforcement assistance.
Richard Taylor then reportedly ran out of the house and left the scene in a green Dodge Intrepid.
Shirley Taylor was taken to a Lufkin hospital to be treated for what appear to be stab wounds. Her condition is not known at this time.
According to Angelina County judicial records, Richard Taylor was sentenced in 1996 to twelve years confinement for Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury for a crime that occurred in 1992. His record for Angelina County also includes charges of Aggravated Assault and Criminal Mischief dating back to the 1980's.
Taylor has been charged with aggravated assault.
