Houston — Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips was named Wednesday as the Texans’ interim head coach.
Phillips will fill in for Gary Kubiak, who’s recovering from a mini-stroke he suffered last Sunday during a home loss to Indianapolis. Phillips took over for Kubiak during the game, which saw the Texans turn a 21-3 halftime lead into a 27-24 defeat.
A date for Kubiak’s return to head-coaching duties has not been set.
