LONGVIEW - If you have kids at Pine Tree ISD, you will soon be getting friendly phone calls to remind you of upcoming events and announcements.
In addition to sending flyers home with students, the school district is apart of ALERTNOW.
It's a phone service that allows school officials to send voice and email messages to parents within minutes.
A spokesperson for the district says ALERTNOW cost about $12,000.
And officials will use the service for both emergency and non emergency notices.
Pine Tree Spokesperson, Vickie Echols said, "We will send messages out for bad weather, school closings or an other info we feel is urgent."
Echols says this system will assure parents are getting important messages.
