Smith County, Texas (KETK) — The Smith County Sheriff's Office arrested two in an undercover residential drug bust, Thursday morning.
Around 11:00 a.m., a man and woman were taken into custody at a home on County Road 112 for possession and distribution of crack cocaine. The arrests were the result of an 18-month undercover drug operation by the Smith County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit.
The two apprehended after a search warrant was issued and executed by officials on behalf of 241st District Court Judge Jack Skeen.
"A search of the residence turned up significant quantities of crack cocaine, a loaded firearm and cash," said Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith. "Both of these individuals already have extensive criminal records. I want this to send a message that drug dealing is not tolerated in Smith County. We're watching, and when we catch you, you're going to jail."
Sheriff Smith said the names of the individuals are being withheld pending their magistration by a judge.
KETK will update information as it becomes available.
