The Lindale Independent School District will celebrate the opening of the district’s newly renovated agricultural sciences facility on Tuesday, November 12. The grand opening celebration will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the facility located behind Lindale High School at 920 East Hubbard Street.
Members of the Future Farmers of America (FFA), Lindale ISD administrators, and school board trustees will be present for a special ceremony to recognize the renovations and new features of the facility. Community members are invited to tour the facility and view the improvements.
LISD trustees approved a $770,095 budget amendment in April for renovations and expansion of the agricultural science facility. The building expansion included the addition of: a veterinary medicine laboratory and classroom; a feed room; boys and girls restrooms; 40 new livestock stalls; one clipping room; multiple wash racks; and easy access drive bays for loading and unloading livestock. The facility is now more than 12,000 square feet in size allowing for a larger show arena. Improvements were also made to the insulation, ventilation and sewer systems.
“It’s a big difference,” said FFA Treasurer Kayla Fields. “It’s much larger and nicer, and the animals will be better cared for there. We can fit more animals into the space which means we will be able to have more members of FFA.”
“We greatly appreciate the school board and administration,” Fields said on behalf of the agricultural students. “Without them,we would have a very small barn and we would not be able to accomplish all that we would like to as students. This new facility will really help to get the Lindale FFA name out there and it shows that we are making progress.”
