TYLER, TEXAS (KETK) — It’s a way to say thank you to military personnel who served our country throughout history.
Selected restaurant chains in East Texas are treating veterans and KETK stopped by a few.
KETK visited Texas Roadhouse in Tyler to see what’s cookin’ on Veterans Day.
Dave Deffenbaugh of Texas Roadhouse tells us, it’s they have a nice special for Veterans Day.
“From 11 to 2, we are honoring veterans and active military with free lunch, we this last year and we had great success and we look forward to another day.”
Deffenbaugh gave us a look at the menu.
“There’s ten different items from country –fried steak, country-fried chicken, 6-oz sirloin, pulled-pork dinner, road kill, we’ve got many other options,” says Deffenbaugh.
Then we stopped at Chili’s restaurant in Tyler to see how they’re honoring veterans.
Chili’s had a Sunday pre-veterans treat.
“We are doing a ‘Give back at Night’ for Wounded Warriors Project, so all day long people that come in for the event we will donate 10% of their check to the Wounded Warriors Project,” says Jeremy Wood, General Manager at Chili’s in Tyler.
And on Veterans Day, they also have a special treat.
“We actually have a special menu for veterans all day long, also lunch and dinner to honor those in active duty and veterans of military service to come in and have lunch or dinner on us.”
It’s a big thank you to our past and present military personnel.
“We look forward to seeing many veterans and current active military personnel, and this is a great way to show support for people who fight for our country,” says Deffenbaugh.
