(CNN) — A South Carolina boy got a heartwarming surprise at school just in time for Veteran's Day.
His military dad arrived home from Afghanistan early and decided to surprise him with a little help from the school.
Josh Carroll is an eighth grade at Lead Academy in Greenville, South Carolina, he also has no idea what is about to happen.
His mother, however, does.
You see Josh thinks he is just at another end of the nine weeks awards program. But what he doesn't know is just outside the cafeteria is his father.
"We are going to try and pull it off. He thinks I'm coming home in three weeks," said Lieutenant Paul Carroll.
Yup, his dad his home from Afghanistan.
Mom and the school staff planned the whole surprise.
The moment was just seconds away. The final award is for service to the country. Josh and his mom are called up in front of the whole school.
Lt. Paul Carroll walks in and father and son are together again.
