Tyler, TX (KETK) — 'Tis the season for hot cocoa, warm soups and fresh baked goodies.
As the weather outside gets cooler, the food gets warmer.
So what do East Texans tend to pick when it gets chilly? It's definitely not a cold salad.
One Texan said, "I would say any sort of soup. Soup and cornbread".
Another said, " I think soups in general. You know that's what you think of when it's winter time. It's soups and hot cocoa"
The ladies at Tyler's "Sweet Gourmet" understand this completely.
Deborah Robertson, a chef at Sweet Gourmet, says "They go to foods that make them feel like it's home. So you know the comfort foods for sure".
Of course, K-E-T-K got the scoop on the best warm recipes for winter.
Deborah shares, "The beer bread that we have in the back right now on the back counter... you add one bottle of beer to it, mix it up barely, and put it in the oven for 55 minutes, and everyone thinks you've been working all day long making this home made bread".
Another crowd pleaser are the dishes easy to serve when entertaining, like a sweet pepper glaze warm dip.
Deborah says, "It's cream cheese with green onions and cheddar cheese, and then it has panko crumbs on the top, it has bacon on top of that, and then you pour this green pepper glaze on top and put it in the oven".
K-E-T-K would love to hear your favorite winter dishes, so please share with us!
