Gladewater — Hundreds of Union Grove community members and students gathered Wednesday night for the high school’s first football playoff pep rally in 45 years.
Union Grove High School last made the postseason in 1968.
The Lions (5-5) will square off tonight with the Waskom Wildcats (10-0) at Bobcat Stadium in Hallsville.
Former Union Grove High School football player Randy Davis did his part to pump up the crowd by igniting a large bonfire. Davis fired a shotgun into a gunpowder-laced trench leading to a massive collection of tree branches, wood and leftover pieces of the school’s technology building that fire destroyed earlier this year .
