It’s Friday morning at Rose Heights Church, but surprisingly, the parking lot is full.
No, there’s no service this morning, but something similar.
Inside this church there’s a ceremony going on.
It’s one that I’ve been a part of.
Families are being formed.
Today is National Adoption Day. And here at Rose Heights Church, 15 families are seeing their adoptions legally finalized.
For a Family Court Judge like Carol Clark, it’s the one duty that leaves everyone happy.
“Judges love this,” Clark said. “This is the happiest of the whole year that I get to be, is National Adoption Day. And this is our tenth year, so it’s a good time to reflect on how many kids we have put in their permanent foever homes. It just makes my heart sing.”
And as the festivities begin, the room is full of moms, dads, and for the little ones, the beginning of a forever family.
And for an adoptive parent, like me…it doesn’t matter how the family begins.
What matters is that it’s family.
And even big brothers are excited.
And then it was Brailey’s turn.
And when it’s all done, a room full of children have a place they can call home.
And a big brother to watch over them.
